Privacy policy
Effective 10 October 2026
In short: Keepalive does not collect personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or crash reporting, and we run no servers that the app talks to. Your data travels only between your phone, the WireGuard hub you connect to and your own computers.
Who we are
Keepalive is an Android app for working with your own computers from your phone. It is made by Razviar (“we”), the developer listed on Google Play. Questions about this policy: [email protected].
What we collect
Nothing. The app does not send us your data, usage statistics or crash reports, and it contains no third-party analytics or advertising code. We have no servers that receive data from the app.
Where the app connects
Keepalive connects only to:
- The WireGuard hub named in the tunnel configuration you import. It is a server run by you or by whoever gave you access to it.
- Your computers, over SSH inside that tunnel.
Terminal input and output, file lists and file contents travel over SSH, encrypted from the phone to the computer. The hub relays this traffic but cannot read it. Like any VPN server, the hub can see connection details such as your phone's IP address and how much traffic passes through it.
What stays on your phone
- The tunnel configuration you import, encrypted with a key held in Android Keystore.
- The phone's SSH key, created in Android Keystore. Its private part cannot be extracted from the phone.
- Your list of computers and their host keys, project folders, open tabs and settings, including an optional PIN.
- A cache of files and photos you open, up to 512 MB. You can clear it in Android settings.
- Files you download, saved in Downloads/Keepalive or in a place you choose.
Android backup is turned off for the app, so none of this is copied to Google or anywhere else. Uninstalling the app deletes it, except for files you downloaded.
When you share something
Data leaves the app in other ways only when you ask for it, and goes only where you send it:
- Settings export: a file with your computers, host keys, project folders and display settings. It never contains the tunnel configuration or the SSH key.
- Diagnostics report: sent through Android's share menu to the app or person you pick. It contains connection check results, a recent app log, your phone model and Android version, and the names and addresses of your computers.
- Files you share to other apps, or from other apps to your computer.
We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not have it.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: to connect to your hub and computers, and to reconnect when the network changes.
- Notifications and user-initiated jobs: to show the progress of file transfers and keep them going in the background.
Keepalive does not use your location, contacts, camera or microphone. Dictation in the compose bar comes from your phone's keyboard, not from the app.
Google Play
When you install Keepalive from Google Play, Google may collect information under its own privacy policy.
Children
Keepalive is a tool for software developers and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If a future version changes how the app handles data, for example by adding push notifications, we will update this page and its effective date before that version is released.
